My Life of Single Motherhood Essays - 711 Words

It has been sometime since I have reflected on just who it is that I am, and what It is that I like and what makes me, Me. Given that we are on the brink of a brand new year there doesn’t seem to be a more perfect time for reflection. My name is xxx, and like many I am a very busy single mother of two beautiful teenage children. When I say beautiful I mean it, this is not a biased mother speaking here. They are just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside. My daughter a 16 year old sophomore basketball star and 14 year old son who seems’ to make it his daily goal drive me nuts. These two people are my greatest accomplishment. There is not a day that goes by that I don’t thank God for them and for the wonderful little†¦show more content†¦I would like to think that I received the best parts of what made each of them the terrific people that they are. Even though my parents separated when I was very young, I was fortunate enough to have never missed out on having a very strong and close family. My Parents remained best friends until my father’s untimely passing in September of 2008. My 3 siblings and I take turns having family dinner at our homes every Sunday. The family w ould most likely be what my mother would say was her greatest accomplishment. As my children, my family is as equally as important to me. Even though we spend a lot of time together we never get sick of each other or at least they don’t tell me so. Who I am remains to be uncovered. In the midst of 2009, I struggled with this very question. In June of 2009, I had found unemployed for the first time in my life. It is then that I began to really give this some thought. I found myself defining myself by the words on paper, my resume. After weeks and weeks of sending out resumes and not getting a single response, I decided to stop and reflect on exactly what it was that happening and why was I overlooked by so many. I had begun to lose the confidence that I once had in who exactly I was and what I was capable of. On a given Friday morning, I sat in front of the laptop with my coffee as I did most mornings and decided that this day was going to be different.
